Pennsylvania Primary Election 2026

Democrats and Republicans will vote for their parties’ candidates in the primary election on May 19.

In 2026, voters will elect a governor and determine party control of the Pennsylvania House and Senate.

Spotlight PA is here to help you navigate the Pennsylvania election process — from important voting deadlines to the different ways to cast a ballot to explainers on relevant legal rulings and how they affect you. Our goal is that the resources on this page will give you the critical information you need to confidently cast your vote, and answer some questions you didn’t know you had in the process.

This May, Democrats and Republicans across Pennsylvania will vote for their parties’ candidates in the races for governor and lieutenant governor.

These voters will also weigh in on the Pennsylvania General Assembly. This year, all 203 state House districts will be on the ballot, while half of the 50 state Senate seats — those in even-numbered districts — are up for election. All of Pennsylvania’s congressional districts are also on the ballot.

Our team will focus on the gubernatorial race, along with select competitive legislative races across the commonwealth. We’ll have candidate and voter guides, along with other resources, leading up to the primary.

We invite suggestions for new features for this page and encourage you to check back regularly for all your 2026 election needs. Read more about how we’re covering Pennsylvania’s 2026 primary election.
